My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: California.

I was 20 days from turning 18 and i was stupid enough to get a speeding ticket. The cop told me he clocked me for 92 in a 65 MPH zone and said it was reckless driving when i made an unsafe lane change. I had a friend in the car but he told me he wasnt charging me for driving someone else when i had not had my license for a year yet. I signed the ticket and he did not have my car towed. Can anyone tell me whats going to happen in court. How much the fine will be? Will i have my license suspended because i was driving so fast? If so, how long will it be suspended? Is there anyway to remove the infraction by going to traffic school? Since I'll obviously be 18 by the time my court date occurs will my parents have to accompany me?

A friend of mine told me my license will be suspended until im 21. Im really worried about the consequences could somebody please shed some light.

And also. The cop didnt give me anything i just signed the form and he took it. Is that right? Will i get something in the mail saying exactly what i did?

Contact the agency who issued the citation. Sometimes the officer will forget to hand you your copy, DL, Reg, Insurance, etc. Yellow copies stick out like a sore thumb for the individual who processes the citations.

    • It is very unusual that the cop wouldn't give you a copy of the ticket. Without that, it is pretty difficult to do anything.
